I blog to write what’s brewing in my mind, to fill my spare time by being sentimental of my pastime as a freelance journalist and copywriter, and to have interactions with my fellow Indonesian (and other nationals) bloggers.
The reward is to have my opinions ‘out there’ for the world to judge/counter/challenge/agree with, to hopefully have some kind of impact on other people, to try to open other people’s minds – or being less arrogant – offer an optional/different view on current or past events that I blog about, or simply, for other people’s entertainment and amusement.
In any case, I like to practice my right to voice my concerns, ideas and thoughts and at the same time, hone my writing skills, if I actually have any.
Many, many rewards this blogging thing brings people, methinks.
In Indonesia (and countries alike), blogs have revolutionized how people think and act, it has also been one of the main tools to stall the corrupt government’s wish to stupidify the whole nation, thus making it easier to govern.
So as you can see, my comment was so long, it has turned into one of my rants, but also a reality check. I don’t blog for the page ranking, nor for popularity (ok, maybe a bit of that). I do so because I like it and I would like to share my thoughts with the rest of the world. Maybe some find my writings depressing, or funny, or amusing, or silly, or bad, or inspirational, or stupid and hundreds more of other ‘ors’. The main point is, I like it, and I will continue blogging for as long as I can.
Now you, why do you blog?
I blog to write what’s brewing in my mind, to fill my spare time by being sentimental of my pastime as a freelance journalist and copywriter, and to have interactions with my fellow Indonesian (and other nationals) bloggers.

I blog because it gives me somewhere to vent my opinionated ass. I find it very therapeutic to get something off my chest at the end of the day. There’s nothing worse than having pent up frustration at a person or thing and nobody to vent it at.
It also gives me somewhere to tell a joke or an old story to someone who hasn’t heard it before. (Mrs Jaggy eventually gets bored of my old patter)
Like yourself, I don’t do it for the ratings, it’s enough to know that a least one person reads it.
I blog because …
I like to write. Just like Jaggy said, it’s therapeutic and it unleashes all the vent up anger, stress or sadness that I have.
Or perhaps, I blog just to know that there are people out there who feel exactly like I do.
Loneliness? Or kindred spirits?
You just made me realize the one and only good reason to blog: it’s the fun of writing.
Thanks.
great reason to blog, Rima!
i don’t have any good reason or even if i have one, i change it every other day.
perhaps, just perhaps, i blog to exist in some people’ world.
not that i don’t exist if i didn’t blog. but how could you know i exist if i didn’t blog?
anyway, ignore my answer. i sometime don’t know what i say.
@jaggy: Yes, reading your blog I can see how opinionated your ass is. lol. I love your writings, really. They are really funny!
@therry: I think we are kindred spirits
writing is extremely therapeutic for me too, as is cooking and baking. but the latter two I don’t do so much anymore to prevent myself from over-eating..
@colson: yes, it is the fun of it that keeps me going. if it isn’t fun anymore, i would most likely stop..
@mer: ha! the logically mad professor not making sense hhahha…
your reason is as good as any, mbak..
exactly the same like Mer. i am not sure why.
good? thanks for your generosity… hahaha…
btw, just checked your demo i really like them. you’re great!!!
mer
